Pia Davie produces work for people to enjoy. 'I have always had a strong interest in the natural environment and how peple interact within this. I am interested in painting my favourite locations around Dunedin. Places where I feel people, buildings and animals all come together. I look for the small things like Tui birds in the trees, paintings hanging on the walls through building windows, and fur seals snuggled up in the sand having a sleep. My paintings are a narrative they tell a story about a place. I want my world to be like my paintings, cosy, colourful and happy'.
In addition to working in the media of acrylic and ink on paper, Pia makes her distinct 'New Zealand Squares'. These are small canvas blocks 10cm x10cm, 4 cm deep. The New Zealand Square comes with a tag explaining the artist and the work. Perfect for posting overseas or as a gift to celebrate New Zealand. They retail at $85 each.
