Justin Morshuis: Summer Escape

5-24 February 2024

In these vivid landscapes Morshuis has moved to large-scale works. We see the same familiar, stylised trees and small groups of figures from his previous works, but here on large-scale they are something quite new. The vibrancy of the oil-pastels enhances Morshuis’ strong colour-sense and his softened shapes; the stories unfold before us.

In the collection of small paintings, we have classic Morshuis works, impasto-style paint in the greens and blues of nature with contrasting splashes of brick-red. At the heart of each one is still an unknown story, people on their way or returning, small paintings busy with life.
